Wedding photo sessions are a big responsibility for photographer since they have to create unforgettable and unique memories for bride and groom. In 10 years the couple looking at their wedding photos, they will cherish memories of that day. Here a list of tips on how to plan the perfect wedding photo session:

  • Consider lighting when scheduling your photo session. Lighting is essential for the result of your photos, a good photographer knows how to use natural light at its best. If you are planning to take photos in an indoor location try to find a spot with large windows.

  • Make a list of shots that you consider mandatory, not more that 20-25 must-have shots so that you have also time for spontaneity. That way the photographer will know what are the photos he has to take during your photo session. This is crucial and we suggest to talk about it during the meeting you have with the photographer before the wedding. You can also ask the best man or the bridesmaid to help you with the list of mandatory photos. They might help looking for people who might need to be in that specific shot.

  • Retouch your make up. Before starting your photo session is important to retouch your make-up and hair, since you have already gone through the ceremony, hugged people and run to the photo session location. So you better bring with you your make-up artist or a little beauty-case with mascara, lipstick, powder, your hairbrush, and hairpins.
  • Make sure to have bride solo and groom solo shots. They should be included in your must-have shots list. Also do not forget the first-look photos, so emotional and intimate moment. This is certainly a great way to represent couple’s feelings on the wedding day.

Best Tips for Virtual Weddings

virtual wedding at home

Life as we knew it has quite changed recently due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and things will not be back to normal immediately. The COVID-19 outbreak confined all the world population to stay home safe, limiting travels, gatherings and promoting social distancing. That is obviously affecting weddings worldwide, couples who were planning to wed in these months see their plans on hold and they need to take a decision: postpone their wedding or find a Plan B. We will need to get used to social distanced weddings.

wedding in times of coronavirus

A good Plan B for people who want to tie the know without waiting, no matter “how” they get married, is to opt for a virtual wedding with the support of an on-line platform such as zoom, google hangouts, skype, Webex, Houseparty among others. Technology is definitely your best ally in these difficult times! Here a list of the best app you can consider:

  • Zoom:this platform offers free and paid plans. The free plan allows you to have group call of up to 100 guests for a maximum time of 40 minutes, so you might prefer one of the paid plans. For $14.99 per month you got the possibility of have group call of up to 100 people and you can meet for up to 24 hours, also your guests can interact and you can record the meeting since you have 1GB of space in the cloud.

  • Facebook Live:you can create a private group and invite your guests to take part in it. Guests must have a Facebook account. In the group you can create a private event and your guests can RSVP directly online and you can take track of this. The group can be also a way for your guests to post their best wishes. The video will live on in the group as long as the group continues to exist.

Wedding on fb live

  • Google hangouts:this is the Google’s videoconferencing service which allows up to 10 people to connect on the same call. It could be used for small weddings. There are also paid plans which allow to have up to 100 or up to 150 participants in the e-meeting.

virtual wedding 3

You have plenty of choices, some of them are cheaper than other since you do not need to pay anything, others cost money but you can invite more than 100 people to join you and your fiancée in this joyful moment. And believe me … a joyful moment comes handy nowadays. Some platforms allow you to record the event, others just offer a livestreaming, such as Facebook Live and Instagram Live. Zoom is actually a great option, one of the most used lately.

So, after picking the right platform for you, you might need to consider the following things:

  • Get a marriage license(if you can): if you were planning to get married in these months you would probably have already a marriage license in your hands, so you do not need to worry about it. If you do not have it, try to get it at the office (If it’s open), or just get married without the license…really who cares, just have a symbolic and romantic virtual ceremony, once this will be over you will get legally married.
  • Find an officiant:I know that social distance needs to be respected, but you still need a person to get you married guys and sing the marriage license. You can consider an outdoor ceremony respecting the distance of 1.5 meters between each other or some couples opted to get married through a window or across balconies. Another option is to have one of your friends or family members ordained to be an officiant, virtually doing it.

WEDDING OFFICIANT

  • Choose the right spot for your celebration:living room, dining room, backyard could also be an option if you have one, but check if your wifi connection is good there and make sure you can plug in Ipad for the meeting, Ipod for music or whatever tools you want to use. You can also think about working a bit on decoration, perhaps DIY ones with things you have at home. Just try to make it nicer than it normally looks. Get crafty!
  • Charge your technology supplies: Ipod, Ipad, Laptop, Gopro, camera whatever you want to use, make sure that everything is fully charged, but still keep your charger close by, you never know. Also,if you have a tripod set it properly for steady viewings and make sure that the position is correct; perhaps you may consider doing a rehearsal before.

get married online

  • Send invitee to guests:this will be a link in case of some platforms such as zoom or just tell them to follow your social media accounts. Make sure that everyone is set a couple of hours before doing a trial.

marriage on zoom

  • Choose a host:this could be very useful, one of your friends or family members can be the host of the virtual meeting in case you choose platforms as Zoom or Webex, this way he is allowed to do things such as putting other people mics on mute or kick out people who do not follow the rules.

wedding live

  • Music Playlist:prepare a playlist of your favorite music on Spotify or Itunes, this is up for you as long as you order the tracks considering the moments of the ceremony and the reception. Yes, you can also have a virtual reception.

A Fun Peru Destination Wedding

Katrina & Franc

Peru destination weddings can be so much fun! We had the pleasure to be part as wedding coordinators of a very special and entertained destination wedding in Paracas, a town located on the Peruvian central coast. It is about 3 hours car ride from Lima.

Paracas wedding

Bride and groom were looking for a relaxed wedding celebration with plenty of food and drinks, nothing too fancy, but something absolutely fun with a relaxed atmosphere for their guests. We tought about a beautiful Oceanfront venue in the area, with several open space options and fabulous grounds they could consider for their specia day.

The result was a stylish and fun wedding celebration in front of the Pacific Ocean, which blended the charme of Afro-Peruvian traditions and the modernity of Australian culture.

The ceremony setting was extremely simple, a foliage half-moon arch placed in one of the garden areas of the venue, rounded by tropical palms with the ocean right in front. We opted for wooden back chairs for the guests and little bougainvillea flower arrangements. Bestmen and bridesmaids, dressed up respectively in beige and tobacco tones, stand up at bride and groom’s sides. The sun was shining during the ceremony, the ocean breeze was quite intense, as well as the sound of the ocean’s waves…it was such a special moment for all.

The reception was really fun! Fourteen rounded table with white tablecloths, delicate flower arrangements with few cream, white or malva flowers, wooden chairs set around a squared wooden dancefloor structure placed in front of the long bar. As backing for the bar, we used vintage lamps hung up on different levels. Wooden and cream tones fabric were the main characters for the reception. The lighting effect was beautiful at night, few bulb lines hung from the top of the dancefloor to all the reception area and few reflectors for the party.

DCIM100GOPROGOPR0333.JPG

Bride and groom opted for a champagne fountain, very popular in Australian weddings. They started pouring champagne into the glasses and people helped themselves from the tower. The entertainment part was also very important for bride and groom, they choose an Afro-dance show and cajon and zapateo show. The cajon is a traditional Peruvian percussion instrument, a sort of box-shaped played with the hands and fingers, used in Afro-Peruvian music, but currently used also in flamenco. Zapateo is a type of dance, also typical of the Afro-Peruvian culture, where dancers use their feet as percussion instruments. It is usually accompanied by the Peruvian cajon.

The party was so much fun, the dancefloor was so crowded and the guests danced until dawn.
This is definitely a great venue for outdoor wedding celebrations!

Top Entertainment Choices for your Peru Destination Wedding

wedding celebration 2

Are you planning a destination wedding in Peru? Are you dreaming about having a fun wedding with a real Peruvian touch? That’s the article you’ve been waiting for. Peruvian weddings are fun, they reflect our joyful Peruvian culture, and it is most likely that bride and groom work very hard to plan the party and ways they entertain their guests. Entertainment is a quite important concern for the couple, since people must have fun and remember the great time they spent at their wedding. A live band or a DJ is not enough for us, we need to have a surprise factor, and let the guests live a unique experience.

Wedding celebration

Here some entertainment options you might consider for your Peru destination wedding:

HORA LOCA: I know the name sounds very exotic and crazy indeed, but there’s nothing weird in it. As I said in another blog article (http://sayidoinperu.com/blog/hora-loca-perfect-way-make-wedding-guests-dance-dawn/) “hora loca” is a combination of Mardi Gras from New Orleans and Brazilian Carnival celebrations. It’s a carnivalesque min-bush which lasts for approximately one hour of the reception party. You will see dancers, still walkers, other performers and a lot of props, such as sparkly masks, colorful hats and boas, oversize glasses and ties, glow sticks and much more. This actually depends from the theme you choose for your “hora loca”. The Dj will select the best party songs and wedding guests will start approaching the dancefloor…a real fun moment!

AFRO-PERUVIAN SHOW: In Peru there’s a big afro-Peruvian community living in Chincha area, they are descendants from Africans who were enslaved and brought to Peru after the arrival of the Spanish “conquistadores”. That’s why the Afro-Peruvian culture is a big part of our cultural idiosyncrasy and our cultural essence, especially when we think about their dances, their music, their cuisine. That’s why is very common to have an engaging Afro-Peruvian show with captivating music and great dancers, which will make you move your body and feel your soul.

Elegant Destination Wedding Inspiration

beach wedding portada

Few weeks ago we had the opportunity to plan an elegant wedding in a charming oceanfront location nearby Lima and we felt in love with the decoration details. This wedding was all about flowers arrangements, flower centerpieces and a beautiful flower and foliage arch for the ceremony. The stunning venue did its part too, since all these elements combined with the location made everything even more perfect. Here I want to give you an idea of how the decoration details bride and groom choose really made a difference in creating the atmosphere they were looking for.

When I received the call from the couple, I immediately understood that they were looking for a special location and this is really one of a kind. That is why I proposed them this beautiful oceanfront villa with romans architecture pieces, a little pool and a beautiful garden area. I also understood they were looking for an elegant wedding with a Peruvian touch, so me and my team tried heard to propose them little but meaningful decoration details.

The sunset light combined with the arch really created an outstanding atmosphere for unforgettable photos.

How to Design a Wedding Mood Board

wedding board

Nowadays planning a wedding could be a bit challenging, due to the enormous variety of existing wedding themes, trendy color palettes, wide range of flowers available, multiple table arrangements ideas, etc. That’s why we always suggest our couple to start from a wedding mood board, a collection of pictures from other weddings with ideas, colors, decorations they might like. You don’t know what a wedding mood board is? Ok, let’s start from the very beginning. A wedding mood board is the visual representation of your wedding, which should reflect your vision and inspiration. It should contain specific ideas, details and elements that must be included in your wedding design.

Making a mood board is not an easy task! We know that with Internet you have access to thousands of wedding ideas, wedding trends and so on, so you might need to spend a bit of time surfing the net and collecting ideas.

First step: questioning! Start asking yourself the basic questions, such as: When do I want to get married? Where am I going to get married? How many guests do I have? Among others. Try to answer these questions before designing your mood board.

wedding planning

Second step: choose your wedding theme, such as rustic, classic, glamourous, shabby, boho, etc.

wedding ceremony

Third step: it’s time to choose your color palette! Look into color palettes websites, there are many available. You can create your palette from an image, you have tons of options.

Wedding Color palette

Fourth step: Once you have a clear the wedding theme and the color palette you can start selecting more specific ideas searching the net. Try to divide idea, that will help you narrowing down the selections you make. For instance, you can divide your search in categories: wedding cake, table flower arrangements, ceremony arch, table settings, flower bouquets, etc.

mood board wedding

Fifth step: Once you have your first selection, try to narrow down the pictures you selected at first. For instance, if you have 5 flowers bouquet, reduce the selection to two options. I know this is not easy, but you have to try, otherwise you’ll end up having too many ideas on the table and this could be confusing.

mood board wedding cakes

Sixth step: create the mood board. You can use the tool you prefer, from Power Point to a simple Word, where you can paste the pics. Today we have other app and software you can use for creating your mood board. Pinterest is the one we use the most. It is very useful and efficient since you can share the board you create with your partner and work together. If you have a wedding planner, you can also share the board with him/her.

wedding board pinterest

Seventh step: check everything once again and see if you need to make any change or cut some ideas. Kee in mind that less is more, so try to include very specific details.mood board wedding final

I think that the mood board is a very effective way to plan a wedding, it makes things easy for us and for the couple itself. You should try to stick with the mood board and try to analyze any new idea considering the mood of your board. I mean if you want a classic ivory peonies bouquet, but you are planning a glamorous wedding with red roses flowers arrangements, you should probably stick to red roses bouquet. So, this tool will definitely help you out in the planning process. Also, it will reflect your idea, what you envision for your wedding and you must share it with your wedding suppliers so that they have a real sense of what you want for your special day.

So now guys, you have a lot to work to do before sending your wedding planner your mood board! 🙂

Romantic Wedding in The Sacred Valley

Peru detination wedding

A couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to be part of a very special wedding celebration in the heart of the Sacred Valley. The venue of the event is one of the best places in the Sacred Valley, has a colonial architectural structure, and stunning Andean mountains around it. The Ceremony area was in a charming garden with a grand tree in the background.  We absolutely loved the ambiance as it was so romantic and beautiful.  The guests were truly amazed by the view and the intricate details of the whole event.

Wedding in Sacred Valley
Selecting the perfect venue for this couple was just the beginning.  We made sure that all details planned ahead of time were included. When planning a wedding with a couple that has never seen their venue in person, the most important thing is that we recreate the perfect setting and even more important recreate their expected dreams for decoration and make sure that every little detail was considered. The theme for this wedding was romantic and dreamy, so we chose an outdoor ceremony in a flower-filled garden.  To enhance the experience, the outdoor ceremony also included a tent or “huppah” with flower details that combined with the bride’s bouquet and the wedding’s color palette.

Wedding in Cusco
For the reception, the Bride and groom opted for rustic-chic decoration paired with vibrant color centerpieces with red, yellow and orange roses. The centerpieces were arranged using a natural style, like a garden with foliage in a gold vase. The ceiling had a beautiful white tent paired with gold string of lights.  The bar was made of wood simply decorated with light and flowers in a vase.

Wedding cake
For many couples, the wedding cake is an essential part of the wedding celebration. The use of colors is definitely a new trend for wedding cakes. For this wedding, the cake was very important, the couple chose a 2-tier cake covered by fondant and it was hand-painted with gold touches. The cake was placed on the dessert table on top of a wooden base and surrounded by orange flowers.

Wedding bouquet

The bride´s bouquet was lovely! The bride opted for an airy bouquet with orange roses of different sizes and green touches of nature, all perfectly assembled. Many times, the flowers in the bouquet define the centerpieces and this was the case in this wedding.  Everything had a delicate balance and looked great.

wedding reception in Peru cusco
Overall, I really enjoyed the planning process for this wedding, looking into all the details, the decorations, the lighting, the romantic style of the wedding. The Bride, groom and all the guests really enjoyed their time in Peru and I am sure they went back home with some great memories.

Details you Cannot miss while Planning your Wedding

wedding planning 2

We are used to talk about wedding etiquette a lot in reference on what you should do and what you shouldn’t during your wedding planning process. We all know that planning a wedding is a big, let’s say huge, thing! And sometimes leaving apart some details can definitely happen. That is why we are here! We will provide you with a complete list of little details that you shouldn’t miss while planning your wedding, think about this as a wedding essential little details checklist, a part from the big items such as decoration, flowers, cake, church, priest or officiant, this is a very imporant list of details you should take in account.

wedding planner

It often happens that between a wedding cake tasting, the wedding dress shopping, the venue hunting, you can miss the little things. Never forget that in weddings every detail counts! And your guests will definitely appreciate it! Let’s be honest your guests can also be judgemental when it comes to weddings, they will compare your wedding with theirs (if married), they will look into the details and they notice if there is something missing or something wrong … this is part of the game guys. So better be prepared!

  • Escort Cards: it is important that every guest has his own escort card, never forget to include one of your guest. Go through the complete list of invitees hundred times if necessary, check that all the guests’ names are spelled correctly and that they are assigned to the right table. Also, try to design escort cards in line with your wedding color palette and put them at the reception entrance. They need to be easy to find and the tables chart needs to be self-explanatory. You do not want that your guests get frustrated while looking for their escort cards.

scort card for weddingCredits: Lara Momentos

  • Wedding website: nowadays it is essential to have a wedding website. It has to be useful for your guests in terms of including wedding ceremony/reception venue address, the wedding exact timeschedule, the dresscode if any, and any relevant information. In this article you will find all you need to know to set the perfect wedding website: http://sayidoinperu.com/blog/tips-perfect-wedding-website/ Remember that if you are planning a destination wedding, the importance of the website actually increases, considering that here you can include travel tips and recommendations for your guests, flight and accommodation information, restaurants recommendations among others.

Wedding-webside

  • Nice favors: this is another important details! It is a way to let your guests know how thankful you are that they made it to your wedding! So choose nice favors, possibly in line with your wedding theme (if any), and put them on a nice table so that your guests can grab a favor before going away. It is very common today to opt for edible favors, such as a little bottle of wine, a little pot of jam or honey. Your guests they will definitely love it and use it!

Nice favors for weddings

  • Have a Plan B: this is essential especially for outdoor wedding. So have a well planned contigency plan in case of bad weather, your guests will not appreciate being outside under the rain for your wedding ceremony or reception. It would be awkward!

Wedding planning

  • Food allergies: check with your guests if they have any food allergy or if there is any vegetarian/vegan among them, so that you can arrange a special menu for them. Once you have this clear, provide a complete list tou your caterer, highlighting the names of the guests and the tables where they will be seated. This is a nice touch that your guests will definitely appreciate.
  • Suppliers food: take in account that also the suppliers you selected for your wedding need to eat, so order some additional meals and pay for them in advance. You do not want to deal with this issue during the wedding reception.

Catering for wedding

  • Music list: provide a detailed music list to your DJ or music band, include songs that you love it and that are meaningful for you and let them understand what are your favorite music genres. Specify to your music vendor the song you want him/her to play and when. I am referring to your reception’s entry music, your first dance song for instance. Also take in account your guests’s music tastes if you want them to have fun.

As you can see planning a wedding is a huge thing and sometimes is not easy at all to have every detail under control. Try to make lists of things you should look into and ask for help! That’s one of the best tip we can give you, always have someone, such as a wedding planner or a family member or a friend, able to look into these details with you. Four eyes see more than two!
